Forum for AIDS Counselling and Training is a local youth led organization working with young people from ages of 13 to 24 in delivery of Youth Friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (YSRFHS) using an innovative peer-to-peer model. Currently, we have offices in Blantyre, Chilobwe and Lilongwe, Area 36. We were found in 2016 and to date we have reached out to more than 50,000 young people with our services and messages. FACT is delighted to add new staff to its growing team to fill in the vacancies of;

  1. Communications Officer 1(Intern)
  2. Fundraising Officer 1 (Intern)
  3. HTS Providers 4 (2 in BT and 2 in LL)(Part time volunteers)
  4. Peer Educators 40 (20 BT, and 20 LL)(Volunteers)

To help create and implement communications and fundraising strategies that further our goals respectively, we would like to add on two interns. As our organization expands, we are in need of 2 young people who can promote our brand, interact with the public and establish productive relationships with beneficiaries, key stakeholders and policymakers. Applicants should be excited about developing and implementing fundraising and communication plans to engage target audiences and spread the right and timely messages about Sexual Reproductive and Health and Rights services. The ideal candidates should have a proven track record of skills in fundraising and communications, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preference will be given to upcoming young people in the fundraising, communications and public relations sector aged between18 to 25.

To meet the demands of our new project, “Kodi Bae Anayedzetsa”, we would like to add to the team four HTS providers that will be testing young couples and forty volunteers to be trained as peer educators.

Applicants should be passionate about working in the field of HIV and AIDS and with young people living with HIV. Preference will be given to young people between the ages of 18 to 25.

Job Title: Communications Officer Intern (Part-time)

Positions: 1

Location: Blantyre

Reports to: Deputy Executive Director

Responsibilities and Duties

Develop, support and promote organization goals, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach

  1. Develop and disseminate public relations materials that increase organization’s visibility among our beneficiaries, stakeholders and donors
  2. Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers and partners that will help advance our work
  3. Identify target audiences and create right strategies to effectively engage them
  4. Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand’s identity and message, and assist with marketing campaigns as needed
  5. Any other duties assigned from time to time

Desirable attributes, qualifications and skills

  1. At least hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  2. Strong interest and passion in promoting Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights among the youth.
  3. A minimum of 1-year experience in communications strategy development
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Chichewa and English
  5. Knowledge of digital marketing tactics and email marketing
  6. Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
  7. Skills and knowledge in graphic designing

Job Title: Fundraising Officer Intern (Part-time)

Positions: 1

Location: Blantyre

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Raise funds for our cause and regularly meet or surpass fundraising targets
  2. Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position our organization to them
  3. Assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for our organization
  4. Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities
  5. Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds and coordinate activities of volunteers and interns related to event planning and execution
  6. Create marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of events and other fundraising activities
  7. Analyze the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and to identify areas where money can be saved
  8. Maintain complete and orderly records of donors and manage regular donor communications
  9. Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis
  10. Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities
  11. Any other duties assigned from time to time

Desirable attributes, qualifications and skills

  1. Hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, journalism or related field
  2. Strong interest and passion in promoting Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights among the youth.
  3. Have at least 1-year of fundraising experience
  4. Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
  5. Strong leadership skills
  6. Quick thinker and ability to make decisions under pressure
  7. Experience working in customer relations preferred

Job Title: HTS Provider (Part-time)

Positions: 4

Location: Blantyre and Lilongwe

Reports to: Programs Manager

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Provide HIV Counselling and Testing to clients as per Malawi HTS national guidelines
  2. Provide health education including HIV prevention and risk reduction education through behavior change initiatives
  3. Provide assisted partner notification services for all index clients
  4. Conduct risk assessment for clients and provide preventive services including lubricants and condoms to clients
  5. Link clients to FACT partners for further medical management where necessary
  6. Document and compile all HTS reports as regards to this project
  7. Clients Follow ups

Desirable attributes, qualifications and skills

  1. Must possess a certificate in HTS counselling provided by the Ministry of Health and Population of Malawi
  2. Have at least 1 year experience in HIV counselling and testing
  3. Be fluent in both Chichewa and English
  4. Preferably young people between the ages of 18-24 years

 

Job Title: Peer Educator (Volunteer)

Positions: 40

Location: Blantyre and Lilongwe

Reports to: Field Officer

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Creating youth groups in the community for ease of information sharing
  2. Facilitate workshops during peer education sessions
  3. Be a link between FACT and the community
  4. Be a mentor to fellow young people
  5. Facilitate comprehensive sexuality education campaigns
  6. Maintain all records of young people reached out to in communities.
  7. Be able to create a youth friendly environment with the youth
  8. Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Desirable attributes, qualifications and skills

  1. MSCE or a tertiary certificate in HIV and AIDS, social work, community development, Sexual reproductive health, Public health and any other related field
  2. Have at least 1 year experience working with the youth
  3. Be fluent in both Chichewa and English
  4. Preferably young people between the ages of 18-24 years
  5. Knowledge of youth and SRHR topics in Malawi
  6. Be an open minded, friendly and be able to talk about all topics in relation to SRHR
  7. Able to maintain confidentiality where need be
  8. Fluent in both English and Chichewa
